This connector will aid the legacy as well as upcoming healthcare applications to be easily on-boarded. The latest interoperability standard i.e. Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) is the core of this exchange box which allows non compliant HMIS System to onboard.

Exchange Engine services enable a facility to onboard over ABDM Ecosystem.

The Exchange engine allows the facility to link with ABDM Ecosystem for the generation and linking of Health ID, Consents, sharing Health records etc. These services provide you the seamless integration of ABDM M1 and M2 Workflows by hiding all the technicalities and callback handling at the back end

With Exchange Engine, the facility will have the ability of:

  • ABHA Number/Address creation .
  • Sharing digital records via Personal Health Records (ABHA) app through provided Health Information Provider (HIP) services.
  • Viewing of patient’s medical history to authorised healthcare workers with complete consent through provided Health Information User (HIU) service.

FHIR Engine converts JSON health records into ABDM FHIR Bundles, and vice-versa.

The FHIR Engine facilitates the services for the conversion of health records (e.g. Prescriptions, Lab Reports, Discharge Summary etc.) to ABDM FHIR Profile Bundle objects so that it can be exchanged on ABDM platform or any other platforms as well.

By using FHIR Engine, the facility will be able:

  • To generate standard ABDM FHIR Profile Bundles like Diagnostic Report Record, Discharge Summary Record, Health Document Record, Immunisation Record, Outpatient Consultation Record, Prescription Record and Wellness Record from the provided simple JSON format health data.
  • To use the generated FHIR Bundles as per their requirement to exchange with ABDM ecosystem or any other platform or tool..

API Services

CDAC ABDM FHIR Connector has a vast collection of API endpoints to serve all your healthcare data exchange requests.

Authentication - Get session token

Generate session token using credentials to access the FHIR API endpoints.

  • Mail required FHIR Resources and Bundles to the Connector team along with facility details.
  • The team will review the request, generate and send your unique client credentials and production base URL.

Validate EHR JSON Bundle

Check if the JSON data has the necessary details.

  • Verify if the input EHR has proper structure.
  • Verify if the required fields are present in the JSON data.
  • Check for errors if any.

Convert - JSON Health data to FHIR Bundle

Generate FHIR Resource with the input JSON Health data prepared

  • Prepare the health data in the provided input JSON for the API.
  • Generate session token using user authentication API. Attach received token as bearer authentication token in API request header.
  • Hit the endpoint to obtain FHIR Bundle with the input data.

Convert - FHIR Bundle to JSON Health Data

Generate JSON based easy-to-understand simple format Health data

  • Prepare Input JSON by Converting FHIR Bundle JSON String into Base64 String.
  • Generate session token using authentication API. Attach received token as bearer authentication token in API request header.
  • Hit the endpoint to obtain JSON Health Data with the base64 input data.

ABHA Creation Workflow

Create ABHA using Aadhar Card or Mobile Number.

  • While creating ABHA based on Mobile, only ABHA Address is created.
  • The citizen has to create an ABHA Number through ABHA App or ABDM Website later.
  • Both ABHA Address and ABHA Number are created by creating ABHA with Aadhaar Number. .

ABHA Verification Workflow

Verify the existing ABHA Account

  • If the citizen already has the ABHA Account, then ABHA Verification workflow needs to follow for fetching the demographic details.
  • The details can be fetched through Mobile OTP as well we through Demographic Detail.
